What is exposure?
Exposure is how dark or light an image will be when it is captured by the camera. This is determined by 3 camera settings, aperture, iso, and shutter speed. This will determine how dark or light the photo is when the camera has taken the photo. an image can be over exposed or under exposed.
When is exposure useful?
Exposure can be useful in a range of situations. for example, if you need to take a picture in a dark area but the camera just shows the image to be really dark, you could over expose the image and make the surrounding area look brighter through the camera. This works vice versa too, if an area is too bright you can under expose the photo to make it look more dull.
How can I set exposure?
The exposure can be set by using the light meter bar when you look in your viewfinder on the camera, right at the bottom of that you will see this light meter bar as show below. You will want to have this set to 0 by default, as this is the "perfect exposure." Perfect exposure is what you would want to use for most of your photos as you don't want to over expose or under expose in most situations.
At the bottom of the light meter bar, you will see this flashing rectangle. This will show you what setting your exposure is on, and will show you if you need to change it. to change the exposure, turn the slider located behind the picture take button and change it to what setting is needed.
