Campaign Photography is using certain photographs and text combined in the style of a poster to psersuade or convince people on certain feelings about a subject, you can campaign for or against a topic, but it must get a certian point across about a subject.
Domestic Violence is a key issue all around the world. It can happen in any household and go untold. It can happen t0 anyone, whether you are male, female or even a child. Domestic Violence is very common as many people go without speaking out and it can leave many people damaged Physically and even mentally.
Forms of Domestic Violence can be abusive relationships, where the man or woman in the relationship has more power over the other, whether that be physical abuse, where one person physically assults the other, or Physcological abuse where the man/woman initimidates the other to get what he/she demands. The five main types of Domestic Violence:
Physical - Attempting to Assult someone (Hitting, Slapping, Kicking ,Punching) or refusing to give someone acess to items the human body needs to live (Food ,drink, medication ,sleep)
Sexual - Forcing someone into commiting sexual acts.
Psychological - Instilling fear into someone (Intimidating them, forcing to self harm, blackmail, harassment) or isloting the victim to people such as family, friends, workplace by restriciting acess to transport or communicatiom devices.
Emotional - Giving someone a lack of confidence (constant criticism, insults, name calling)
Economic - Stealing someones financial icome (maintaining total control over someones income)
This photo shows a campaign about domestic violence. To the right is a father in a very aggresive pose to imply the feeling of fear. This photo was taken with the lighting focused on the father with a dark background to really make him stand out.The text to the left of the man is huge to also make it stand out and get a clear message across. The photo uses the rule of thirds also by placing the man on a power spot. The photo uses a large depth of field to make the whole picture in focus. Personally I think this photo is very hard hitting and gets the point of Domestic Violence across well.
Campaign Zero
The ph0to above is called campaign zero. This photo was made in an attempt to end police violence in America. It shows a man with his hands up to portray innocence in the chaos around him. This photo was taken with a shallow depth of field, because the background is out of focus puting the focus point on the man with his hands up. The photo uses a neutral exposure but the background is very bleached out. The white in the background is the vanishing point of the photo. The photo uses the rule of thirds by putting the man in the middle and making him the focal point. The photo also has a traingle shape and there is a tunnel vision towards the vanishing point of the photo. The black and blues of the photo give the photo a very serious and depressing impression. Persnonally I like this photo because it is very simplistic and gets the point of the image across.
MINDMAP
Photoshoot 1:
Pros: This photo was taken with a shallow depth of field and a large Aperture to put the focus point on the injury and to make the background not in focus because you draw attention to the injury and not what is going on in the background. I like the fake blood and face paint used in photo to make the injury realistic, and it makes the photo stand out and makes it look like domestic violence.
Cons: I have the raw photos but they need editing in photoshop to add effect and make it look like a campaign instead of just a photo.
Photoshop
I first started off with this photo that I wanted to photoshop.
Secondly, I decided to add a lens effect to make it look as if he is looking at the sun to add effect.
Lastly I decided to add a black and white effect because the background was way too bright for a campaign photo.

Photoshoot 2:
Pros: This photo was taken with a shallow depth of field to make the background out of focus and to put your attention on the pen, to do this I cleaned all the ink out of the pen and cut the top,of it off and filled it with fake blood, and then dipped the tip in it to get thee dripping blood effect
Cons: This photo neeeds to be edited in photoshop again to make it look like a campaign and I don't know how well this picture got the message across off dripping blood, as it's a quite implicit photo i'm not sure it really gets the message across.
Photoshop
I first started off with this photo.
Next I used the liquify step to extend the blood drop and make it look like it is dripping further.
Next I changed the brightness and Contast because the photo looked really dark
Finally I added a warm filter to the photo and put it to 100% to give it a sinister effect.

Photoshoot 3
Best photo
This is my best photo out of the whole photoshoot. I like this photo because of the angle and I have the pen on a power spot. I took this photo using a shallow depth of field to make the pen and the blood get the readers attention and I used an F stop of 3. I Also used a dark background to really make the viewers attention on the blood and the pen.
Worst photo
This is the worst photo I took in the photoshoot. I dislike this photo because of the background is visible and you can see the board and you don't really focus on the paper istelf. I also took it at a bad angle because you cannot read the text on the paper and it has a reall bad angle to the photo.
photoshop
First I changed the Brightness and Contrast of the photo to add a sort of sinister effect.
Secondly I changed the white balance to make the paper look more white and contrast the blood to the paper.

Evaluation
In this topic "Campaign photography" we researched different types of campaign such as Domestic Violence and Racism. We learned how to lay out our photos in a style of campaign posters and we experimented with techniques such as composition, cropping, depth of field and Photoshop skills. This topic links to many other topics we have done before as it uses many techniques we have used in previous topics. We started off by researching many different campaigns, where I chose domestic violence, and we inspired our photos off our research. From these images I researched, I used many techniques that were incorporated in these photos such as Composition, Colour, lighting and background; these techniques improved my photos greatly.
Personally from this topic, I have gained further skills in my photography and I have increased skills in programs such as Photoshop. My strengths have been incorporating techniques such as composition, rule of thirds and depth of field; to make my photos stand out. Personally I found that my last photoshoot was my very best and I am happy to end this project with that final photoshoot. If I was to redo that project again I would be more creative with the props I used and vary my ideas. This is what I personally think I need to do to achieve higher grades.
Overall I really enjoyed this project and I believe that the photos I have created portray the style of campaign photography.
